Alumni
Hall of Fame inductee Bill Kenney has made a difference throughout
his life. Whether in a classroom or on the football field, Kenney
has strived and achieved professional success while working to make
his community a better place for all.
Kenney is a 1973 San
Clemente High School graduate. An outstanding athlete in high school,
Kenney continued his football career in college at Saddleback College,
University of Arizona and University of Northern Colorado where he earned
a degree in business management. He later played quarterback for the Kansas
City Chiefs from 1979- 1989 and was their most valuable player and Pro
Bowl quarterback in 1983. Throughout his tenure with the Chiefs, Kenney
gave back to the Kansas City community through numerous philanthropic
and volunteer efforts.
Following retirement
from football, Kenney opened his own real estate business. While continuing
his business ventures, Kenney successfully ran in 1994 for the Missouri
State Senate in which he is a current member. He serves on numerous legislative
committees and commissions. He is a member of Fellowship of Christian
Athletes and Athletes in Action, as well as an active supporter of his
community's D.A.R.E. and Food for Families programs. Kenney often speaks
to student athletes, including those at San Clemente High School, about
the importance of staying in school, saying no to drugs and making a positive
impact in the lives of others.
A role model for athletes
and academics alike, Kenney has made it a priority in his life to help
others. He has attained great success both on and off the athletic field
and continues to serve as an example of excellence for current and future
CUSD students. Kenney and his wife Sandi have four children.
