Open enrollment will take place March 10 through March 14. AFTER THE OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD, INTERESTED PARENTS SHOULD CONTACT THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT OFFICE TO BE PLACED ON WAIT LISTS.

Fee-Based Preschool is being offered at the following locations for the 2008-2009 school year:

o Barcelona Hills Elementary
o Bathgate Elementary (Preschool and PreKindergarten)
o Castille Elementary
o Chaparral Elementary
o Don Juan Elementary
o Ladera Ranch Elementary
o Las Flores Elementary
o Lobo Elementary
o Malcom Elementary
o Moulton Elementary
o Oak Grove Elementary
o Oso Grande Elementary
o Reilly Elementary
o Wood Canyon Elementary(Preschool and PreKindergarten)
o Hankey Elementary (PreKindergarten Program only)
o Hidden Hills Elementary (PreKindergarten Program only)


Please note that operation of a preschool program at any elementary school is dependent upon space availability after all elementary children are enrolled.

Open Enrollment Application Period
Applications must be obtained at and submitted between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., in person, to one of the preschool sites or the Child Development Office in San Juan Capistrano on the following dates only. PLEASE NOTE-APPLICATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE BEFORE THESE DATES AND ARE NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE:

  • Monday, March 10
  • Tuesday, March 11
  • Wednesday, March 12
  • Thursday, March 13
  • Friday, March 14

Notification to applicants will begin Monday, April 14, 2008.

Children will be placed in preschool classes according to a system of priority and within class-size mandates.
After all children in category A below have been placed, requests for open enrollment placement will be honored according to the following priority criteria until all openings in a given school are filled:

A. Returning preschool students who will continue to attend their current school.

B. Returning preschool students wishing to change schools.

C. Siblings of current preschool students with priority given by age.

D. All other families requesting preschool placement.

Once a class has reached maximum enrollment, any remaining enrollment requests will be given placement on wait lists.

State Funded Preschool Enrollment
2008-2009 School Year

The Children's Home Society of California maintains the wait list for our program as well as all state funded programs in the County of Orange. Parents must fill out a CHS Eligibility Questionnaire in order to be placed on that wait list. EQ's are available in the Child Development office or online at https://cel.chs-ca.org
