CHOOSE, Capistrano Home Outreach Option for Student Education, is a kindergarten through eighth grade home school utilizing an independent study strategy for the Capistrano Unified School District. Independent study, or home study, is an alternative instructional strategy to classroom instruction. The CHOOSE instructional curriculum is aligned with Capistrano Unified School District's course of study and instructional calendar.

When a student is enrolled in CHOOSE, the home educator is provided with all textbooks, consumables and teacher's editions necessary for home education. The home educator will also be given a curriculum guide, which breaks down each subject by the school month. This curriculum guide is flexible based upon the needs of the student.

CHOOSE home school combines strong educational curriculum with certificated instructional support. CHOOSE allows students to continue their education outside the classroom based on a written CUSD independent study contract. A credentialed CUSD teacher provides student support and educational supervision. CHOOSE home school, is guided by both the California Education Codes and the Capistrano Unified School District's Board of Trustees.
