CROWN VALLEY’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Successful students take responsibility for their own learning. They set goals and work hard to obtain those goals. While summer is often a time for vacations, family barbecues and childhood memories, it can also provide an opportunity to establish reading routines and the understanding that learning is a life-long commitment and not something takes place just at school.

Crown Valley students are encouraged to continue reading and learning throughout the summer months. The Summer Reading Program is designed as an incentive to motivate students to set reading goals and achieve them. Please help your child to set appropriate reading goals by using the chart below.

            Kindergarten and First Grade. . . . . . . . . . . . 75 days @ 20 minutes per day = 1,500 minutes

            Second and Third Grades . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 75 days @ 30 minutes per day = 2,250 minutes

            Forth and Fifth Grades . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 75 days @ 45 minutes per day = 3,375 minutes
