CORE Testing
In 1996, the district
began its Capistrano Objectives for Reaching
Excellence (CORE) Level tests to promote
accountability and to precisely identify
student academic growth during the school
year. These tests are directly linked
with the reading and mathematics curriculum
of the CORE instructional program
and are given to students twice annually
in grades 2-8.

The Level tests are
augmented by systematic teacher
observations, state-mandated assessments,
and classroom work. See below for
more information on the CORE instructional
program.
