Ruby's Night:
Come dine at Ruby's on Wed, Jan 30 and 20% of all food and non-alcoholic beverage sales will be donated to the DJAES PTA. You have to bring the flyer with you. Look for one in your child's backpack. Come join the fun!
Cell Phones
Cell phones are excellent communication tools for parents however they are a distraction at school. If your child carries a cell phone they may NOT use it during school hours. Phones must be turned off and in a back pack till 2:05. If a child is using a phone during school hours the phone will be confiscated. Please do not use text messaging as a way to communicate with your child during the day. They will not retrieve the message until 2:05. If you need to communicate with your child before 2:05 you will need to call the office.
60’s Day Friday, February 1
Student council invites you to join them in the spirit of the 1960’s. Wear jeans, tie died shirts, headbands, bright colors, and peace sign necklaces. Please do not color your hair.
Progress Reports Home:
Your student will bring home their progress report on Friday, February 1.
Town Hall Meetings: CUSD invites you to attend a Town Hall meeting in response to the State Fiscal Crisis. Superintendent Woodrow Carter will be presenting information on the State’s fiscal crisis and what the Governor’s proposal will mean to CUSD. There will also be a chance for the public to ask questions and submit ideas regarding areas for budget reductions or revenue enhancements. Meetings will be held from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Kindergarten Orientation Thursday, February 21 at 2:00
Spread the word…families with students entering Kindergarten in 2008-2009 (children must be 5 by 12/2/08) are invited to attend our annual Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, February 21 at 2:00 in the multipurpose room. We will discuss Kindergarten readiness, the instructional program, and hand out packets for registration. This will be our only formal Kindergarten Orientation of the year. Any help you can give in spreading the word is greatly appreciated as it helps with projecting our enrollment and starting the year with stabilized classes. Thanks
Open Enrollment Dates: Open enrollment is an application process for parents who wish their child(ren) to attend a school in our district whose attendance area they do not live in. The time for this process is as follows:
- Parent information meeting, Thursday, February 21, 6:00pm at the district office
- School Visitation Days - Thursday-Friday, February 28 (for schools with openings only).
- Application Period – Monday – Friday 3-7, 2008
- Parent Notification - Friday, April 18, 2008
