Variety Show:
Thank you to our second grade teachers, Mr. Hammons, Gerri Belletti, and all of our performers for a GREAT variety show last week. We also want to thank our sponsors, Renaissance Club Sports, Kids Co., Alpha Tutoring, Golden Spoon, and Aliso Shore Dentistry. It was a great night of 60's style peace and love.

Four-Day Holiday Weekend Coming Up This Week
Moms and dads, a friendly reminder that all students in CUSD have a four-day Presidents’ Day holiday weekend coming up this week.
There is no school this coming Friday, February 15 plus no school on Monday, February 18.
Enjoy your four-day weekend!

Do you have a company banner that you would like to hang on our school fence for all of the elementary and middle school parents to see? “Annie The Musical”
On Thursday, February 21 at 6:00 Don Juan will present “Annie The Musical.” It promises to be a fun filled and enjoyable production. With you favorite songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” Watch for the flyer coming home with your student!

Jog-a-thon:
Our spring Jog-a-thon raises money for our art and music program at DJAES. This is a very important fundraiser for us and the sponsor envelopes went home last week. The envelopes are due back on Thurs., Feb 21st. The Jog-a-thon will be April 18th. If you want your child to have a t-shirt on the day of the Jog-a-thon, you must raise at least $25 and return the envelope on time. The t-shirts and other prizes will be given out during the week of the Jog-a-thon. Thank you so much for your support of our school and enrichment programs.  

 
Yearbook - Last Chance!:
This Thursday, 2/14 is the last chance to pre-order your 2007-8 yearbook. Forms are coming home in backpacks You can also send in send in a check for $20 made out to DJAES PTA with your child's name and teacher's name on a separate piece of paper. After Thursday, you will have to wait until the last week of school to get a yearbook. We always sell out. Pre-order yours today!

Town Hall Meetings:
CUSD invites you to attend a Town Hall meeting in response to the State Fiscal Crisis.  Superintendent Woodrow Carter will be presenting information on the State’s fiscal crisis and what the Governor’s proposal will mean to CUSD.  There will also be a chance for the public to ask questions and submit ideas regarding areas for budget reductions or revenue enhancements.  Meetings will be held from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Wednesday, February 13  Aliso Niguel High School
Wednesday, February 20  San Clemente High School
Wednesday, February 27  Capistrano Valley High School
Thursday, February 28   Dana Hills High School

Kindergarten Orientation Thursday, February 21 at 2:00pm
Spread the word…families with students entering Kindergarten in 2008-2009 (children must be 5 by 12/2/08) are invited to attend our annual Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, February 21 at 2:00 in the multipurpose room.  We will discuss Kindergarten readiness, the instructional program, and hand out packets for registration.  This will be our only formal Kindergarten Orientation of the year.  Any help you can give in spreading the word is greatly appreciated as it helps with projecting our enrollment and starting the year with stabilized classes.  Thanks!

Open Enrollment Dates:
Open enrollment is an application process for parents who wish their child(ren) to attend a school in our district whose attendance area they do not live in.  The time for this process is as follows:

• Parent information meeting, Thursday, February 21, 6:00pm at the district office
• School Visitation Days - Thursday-Friday, February 28 (for schools with openings only).
• Application Period – Monday – Friday 3-7, 2008
• Parent Notification - Friday, April 18, 2008
