“Annie The Musical”
On Thursday, February 21 at 6:00 Don Juan will present “Annie The Musical.” It promises to be a fun filled and enjoyable production. With you favorite songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” The cost is only $6.00 per person!

Jog-a-thon Envelopes are due:
The envelopes for the PTA's Spring Fundraiser are due tomorrow (2/21). This fun event raises money for the music program, the art program, and the librarian at DJAES. If you want your child to have a t-shirt to match the rest of the students on the day of the event, you must raise $25 and return your envelope on time. All participants need a signed permission slip. Return your envelope with the signed permission slip in order for your child to participate in this fun school-wide activity. Thank you!

Barnes and Noble:
Thank you so much to everyone that participated in the Barnes and Noble Book Fair.  The PTA was able to purchase a lot of wonderful books for our school library.  The students will be so excited when they see the new titles.  We received several books that students have requested like Judy Moody, Stink, Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles Book 1, and Diary of a Whimpy Kid.  We also received many great non-fiction books and some wonderful Newberry Medal winners.  Once again, thank you to the PTA and families who have helped our library.

Town Hall Meetings:
CUSD invites you to attend a Town Hall meeting in response to the State Fiscal Crisis.  Superintendent Woodrow Carter will be presenting information on the State’s fiscal crisis and what the Governor’s proposal will mean to CUSD.  There will also be a chance for the public to ask questions and submit ideas regarding areas for budget reductions or revenue enhancements.  Meetings will be held from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Wednesday, February 27  Capistrano Valley High School
Thursday, February 28   Dana Hills High School

Kindergarten Orientation Thursday, February 21 at 2:00
Spread the word…families with students entering Kindergarten in 2008-2009 (children must be 5 by 12/2/08) are invited to attend our annual Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, February 21 at 2:00 in the multipurpose room.  We will discuss Kindergarten readiness, the instructional program, and hand out packets for registration.  This will be our only formal Kindergarten Orientation of the year.  Any help you can give in spreading the word is greatly appreciated as it helps with projecting our enrollment and starting the year with stabilized classes.  Thanks

Do you have a company banner that you would like to hang on our school fence for 2000 elementary and middle school parents and students to see? Be a sponsor of our upcoming Jog-a-thon (4/18), Open House (6/5), Family Movie Night (6/13), and have a business card ad in our yearbook. All for only $300. Open Enrollment Dates:
Open enrollment is an application process for parents who wish their child(ren) to attend a school in our district whose attendance area they do not live in.  The time for this process is as follows:

• Parent information meeting, Thursday, February 21, 6:00pm at the district office
• School Visitation Days - Thursday-Friday, February 28 (for schools with openings only).
• Application Period – Monday – Friday 3-7, 2008
• Parent Notification - Friday, April 18, 2008
