ESCRIP NEWS
In 2007 DJAES generated $2,913.67 in contributions to our school thru the eScrip program.  This figure was generated by the very few people already signed on.  If we could get even just a majority of families signed up for the program we could earn thousands more this year!  A big thank you to the following companies who contributed due to the shopping loyalty of our members:

Vons, Macy's, Bristol Farms, Safeway, Big 5, Office Max, Wingnuts, Jade Palace, Toni Pepperoni, El Ranchito, Daphne's Olamendi's Sushi Wok, Carrows,  Coco's, and many others.  We had many contributions from pharmaceutical companies so remember to swipe your card or give your grocery card number at the grocery pharmacy!

Thank you also to families who signed up grandparents, relatives and friends from other parts of the country who also generated funds for our school! 

For SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS on how to sign up for eScrip:

1) go to www.escrip.com
2) Click on "sign up"
3) Under "identify your organization" type in "Don Juan Avila Elementary School."  Or, you can use our customer number which is "10272238."

4) You will be prompted to the next steps to finish your sign up.

SPRING CONFERENCE WEEK: M-F, MARCH 24-28 WITH 12:15 P.M. DISMISSALS
Moms and dads, please note the special dismissal times all week March 24-28 for spring conferences:
• Grades 1-5 = 12:15 p.m., Monday through Friday

YMCA UPDATE

• Plans for Spring Break?  Need Childcare?  April 7-11th the DJA YMCA will be offering drop in rates for any child that needs childcare during Spring Break.  The YMCA is conveniently located on school campus and is open all week from 6:45am to 6pm.  For more information please contact Michelle Parker or Brynn Oliver at 360-5907.
• IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW… The South Coast YMCA offers financial assistance for all of its programs to all qualifying families.  Every Child and family should have access to programs that offer SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY.
• The South Coast YMCA is hosting Healthy Kids Day on April 12, 2008 this is a free event for all families. 
• LEARNING BRIDGE: Get an early start with a Kindergarten readiness program that helps bridge the gap to elementary school with confidence.  This program will only be offered at Bergeson and Oakgrove elementary YMCA’s so sign up early as space is limited.
