CORE TESTING (Grades 2-5): MAY 19-23
In the spring of each year, Capistrano Unified School District administers assessments that inform teachers and parents about the progress of students. CUSD administers the CORE Level tests in Grades 2-8. Please arrange all student appointments for alternate dates. Parents will not be allowed on campus during testing and the office will not interrupt the classroom to communicate with students. Please write a note to your teacher if your student needs any special instruction.
NO SCHOOL MONDAY, MAY 26
This is a reminder that there will be no school on Monday for Memorial Day observance.
BARNES & NOBLE DAY, THURSDAY, MAY 29
Come hear our DJAES staff read, buy books for the summer and raise money for our school.
OPEN HOUSE, THURSDAY, JUNE 5 FROM 6:00 to 7:00
We are looking forward to seeing all of our families on this special night when our young scholars can show off their classroom and celebrate what they have learned throughout the year. Remember there will be an early dismissal: grades 1 to 5 get out at 11:50 and all kindergarten students are from 7:45 to 10:58.
CLASS ASSIGNMENTS
We are fortunate at Don Juan Avila to have an incredibly talented and dedicated staff. The teaching staff and Principal will carefully be considering each child’s class placement for next year. Our students are heterogeneously grouped at all grade levels with consideration given to interests, learning styles and above all, academic needs. Classes are balanced in size and boy/girl ratios. Any changes would cause a disruption in the balance at each grade level. Parents are respectfully asked NOT to request for specific teachers for their child.
WILL YOU BE MOVING AWAY FROM DON JUAN? PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP:
Moms and dads, if you will be moving away from Don Juan, please let us know as soon as possible. This information is vitally important to us. If we learn of students who are moving away, that will help us to place any new move-ins that come to Don Juan. This will reduce the need to move students from one classroom to another. Thanks in advance for your assistance
GRADE K-5 REGISTRATION PACKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN THE FRONT OFFICE
Parents of incoming kindergarten students plus new students in grades 1-5 for fall 2008, please be aware that enrollment packets are now available in the front office. Don’t delay on picking up your packet. We base the number of teachers we will need in the fall on the number of enrollment packets requested at the front office.
