(updated 12/4/08)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL KINDERGARTEN AND GRADE 1 TEACHERS:

It is important to note that PMAS should NOT be used as the ONLY assessment when determining achievement marks or grades on standards-based or non-standards-based report cards. Teachers should continue to use multiple measures for determining achievement toward grade level standards.

PMAS General Info:

This Primary Math Assessment System (PMAS) Info website provides information about the PMAS assessments, but is not the website for inputting student data.

If you are currently on a CUSD-Networked computer: Click HERE to open the myCUSD log in page; teachers must log in to their myCUSD site in order to access their PMAS data entry site.

If you are NOT currently on a CUSD-Networked computer: The good folks at TIS have provided "webvpn" access to Kindergarten and Grade 1 teachers. Webvpn access allows teachers to access their myCUSD website at home (or with any non-networked computer with Internet access).
Click this PMAS Website - Directions to Access myCUSD website from Home link to download the document which describes how to use webvpn from home (or any other non-CUSD networked computer with Internet access).

The following Word files provide general information for all administrators and teachers involved in using the PMAS.

PMAS Training Overview for Principals

PMAS Website Troubleshooting Guide:

For teachers who have a myCUSD log in and password, but who do not see PMAS as an option under "myJOB":
PROBLEM: These teachers have not yet been assigned by their principal access to input student data in the PMAS site.
SOLUTION:
Teachers should ask their principal to add them to the PMAS site through "Staff Setup". If the problem persists, please contact Dave Chamberlain or Marianne Blankenbiller. Teachers and principals should NOT contact TIS/RADAR in this case. Please note that no matter who provides a teacher access to the PMAS site, he/she will not have access to the PMAS link under myJOB within his/her myCUSD page until the day after he/she has been assigned PMAS access.

For teachers who DO NOT have a myCUSD log in and password:
PROBLEM: Teachers cannot score PMAS assessments without a myCUSD account.
SOLUTION:
The principal must submit a RADAR ticket requesting that a myCUSD account be created for the teacher. The RADAR ticket should also request that (1) the teacher be "given webvpn access" and (2) the principal be notified that the teacher has a myCUSD account so that the principal can add the teacher to the PMAS user list.

For teachers who want to get a whole class item analysis of the Kindergarten Pre-Assessment for all his/her students on a single report:
PROBLEM: That report is not yet available.
SOLUTION:
The tech department will be making that report available in the future.

For teachers who are using Macintosh computers:
MAC PROBLEM 1:
The comment "Browser NOT supported. Please use Mozilla" appears or teachers cannot access the PMAS input website at all.
EXPLANATION:
The PMAS website will work on some Macintosh computers using the Microsoft Explore web browser, but technical problems often occur. Mozilla is the preferred web browser to use when one is within the PMAS data input website, as far fewer technical problems arise with that browser on Macs.
SOLUTION:
School sites/teachers are encouraged to submit a RADAR ticket with the following information...
1. Teacher name
2. Teacher email address
3. Room number in which computer(s) is/are located
4. The 5-digit number appearing directly above the bar code of computer(s)...do not include any numbers for the sticker with the word "Warranty" or "92675"

5. In the body of the request, state that the Mac needs Mozilla to be installed for the purpose of inputting PMAS data
NOTE: If the computer is a laptop, it is very helpful for TIS technicians to know the best time to find teachers in their classroom; this information can also be included on the submitted RADAR ticket
.
Until Mozilla has been installed, teachers should either (1) enter their data on a CUSD-networked PC (non-Mac) computer, (2) use whichever Macintosh web browser they have and be extra careful with their data entry, or (3) use a PC computer at home and access the PMAS site via webvpn (assuming that the teacher has webvpn access).

MAC PROBLEM 2: The newer, Intel-based Macs (specifically MacBooks, MacBook Pros, Intel iMacs, iMac Aluminums and Mac Pros) allow a teacher to input the data, but do not generate PMAS reports.
EXPLANATION:
TIS has identified this problem with Intel-based Macs generating PMAS reports. The issue will be resolved by the district's tech department.
SOLUTION:
School sites/teachers are encouraged to submit a RADAR ticket with the following information..
1. Teacher name
2. Teacher email address
3. Room number in which computer(s) is/are located
4. The 5-digit number appearing directly above the bar code of computer(s)...do not include any numbers for the sticker with the word "Warranty" or "92675"
5. In the body of the request, state that the Mac cannot access PMAS reports
NOTE: If the computer is a laptop, it is very helpful for TIS technicians to know the best time to find teachers in their classroom; this information can also be included on the submitted RADAR ticket
.
