It is the mission of Newhart Middle School to provide
and promote a curricular environment where academic literacy is
embedded in every facet of instruction. Teachers, administrators,
classified staff, students, and parents work collaboratively to
implement standards-based instruction that empowers students to
reach their highest learning potential and demonstrate proficiency
in all academic disciplines.
Newhart Vision Statements
To establish academic literacy as the basis of Newhart school culture
through school-wide reading and writing standards; enrichment opportunities;
and intervention programs before, during, and after school.
To utilize performance-based assessments and data as tools to evaluate
our successes and shortcomings. Constant school improvement will
be implemented through grade level and department goals and guidelines,
as well as ongoing reflection and assessment.
To ensure that student learning revolves around standards-based
instruction through the use of curriculum maps, state frameworks,
and district CORE objectives.
To engage teachers in collaborative efforts within and across subject
areas through an interdisciplinary approach that utilizes villages,
common planning periods, staff development, feeder-school articulation,
and collective leadership.
To provide a safe, supportive school community through daily reinforcement
and recognition of positive behavior, access to counseling and academic
advisement, acknowledgement of academic achievement and growth,
and extra-curricular opportunities.
To promote student learning that emphasizes the use of computer
technology by students, parents, and staff for the purpose of enhanced
instruction, academic preparation, communication, and the ability
to be proficient in a technology-based society.
