Meet Michael Spelber

Welcome to the web site of George White Elementary School. I am very excited about being your principal. Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been married for 36 years, and my wife is also a principal. I have a son, Sean, who is an accountant and Courtney, my daughter, is a teacher at Capistrano Valley High School. I have two granddaughters Haylee and Jadyn. My interests include my two dogs, Lexie and Mandy, golf, and attending the San Diego Chargers' football games.

I have been in education for twenty-five years at both the secondary and elementary levels and have found that the elementary years of a child's education provide the opportunity to build a strong foundation in academics that carries over to middle school and high school. What children accomplish at this level effects their success in their latter years. It is also a time to develop an interest in the arts, music, physical fitness, community service, and technology. It is with these beliefs that a well-balanced, challenging, and multi-faceted program has been established at George White Elementary School.

An emphasis on the development of the whole child is important to the success of all of our students. The staff at George White Elementary School is proud of their students and their accomplishments. High standards are set both academically and behaviorally. A positive, warm, and caring atmosphere exists in which teachers and staff model respect for our students, parents, and community members. Parental involvement is valued and encouraged. A strong and supportive PTA is at the foundation of what makes George White Elementary School a success. Responsibility, good citizenship, and enhanced self- esteem are fostered throughout the school day both in the classroom and on the playground.

I am very honored to be the principal at George White Elementary School. It is a privilege to be working with such an exceptional staff and a community that values education and our children.
