The student council is a group of kids
who are elected by their peers to help plan activities, community service,
and come up with dress up day ideas. These projects help other people who
are not as fortunate as us and they also encourage kids to learn when we
have special dress up days. Other ways the student council helps improve
the school and the school's community is to promote recycling and clean
up days where the kids from John S. Malcom give up their weekends to do
beach clean-ups.
Other ways the student council helps out
the community is by having periods of time where they encourage kids from
John S. Malcom to donate things like old toys to shelters. When they do
this they help out kids who are not as fortunate as them so they can receive
a gift. So that is why community service is a big part of the student council
and that is also why the student council focuses so much on community service
projects.
Other things the student council does to
improve John S. Malcom school is they have fund raisers or they just recycle
things to make money to improve the school's functioning. A good example
of this is every Wednesday when we recycle water bottles to help the environment,
so the environment won't be polluted.
The student council also have a day every
month where they show their appreciation for the teachers at John Malcom
school. What they do is they have special thing for the teachers (that follows
the theme for that month) and they either have to draw teachers names from
a container of some sort or they surprise the teachers with a special little
treat in the morning.
