Welcome

August 2008

Welcome to Moulton School where our mission is striving for excellence in academics, social and emotional growth, and lifelong learning development.  Moulton Elementary School is a National Blue Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School located in the beautiful community of Laguna Niguel.  The school enrollment currently stands at approximately 750 students in Preschool through Grade 5.  Our learning community at school is filled with excellent students who work hard each day in a warm and challenging academic environment.  The primary focus of our school is student achievement and student learning—particularly in the core academic areas of reading literacy, mathematics, science and social studies.

In addition to our standards-based academic program, students participate in a wide variety of assemblies, field trips, dramatizations, and hands-on activities.  Evidence of the excellent participation by the students, parents, and the staff in extra academic efforts is noted in our Read Ahead, Read Naturally, and REWARDS reading programs.  We are fortunate to have a lab-based science lab staffed by a wonderful science instructor, as well!

Technology is a major focus at Moulton.  We integrate technology into the core curriculum.  Computers are readily available in classrooms and two labs are accessible to students and staff.  Student learning is enhanced by our ability to reach out to the world through our Internet access—available in classrooms and in both labs.  This extends our learning beyond the traditional classroom.  Our teaching staff is leading the way with technical and financial support from our very generous Parent Teacher Association (PTA).  As a result of the combined efforts of the school and the parent community, each teacher received a new Macintosh laptop to assist with curricular and instructional delivery.

Written below are our Moulton Hawks Mission Statement and Vision Statement.  We look forward each year to working with our school community to fulfill our mission and vision!

Mission Statement:

The mission of Moulton Elementary School is to provide a place where all students and teachers strive for excellence in academics, social and emotional growth are nurtured, and habits of lifelong learning are developed. Moulton Hawks (students) will learn and grow in a positive atmosphere where the staff, parents, and students are enthusiastic about the learning and teaching process.

Vision Statement:

We believe the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Moulton Elementary School is to have a staff that:

  • unites and works together in a collaborative manner to achieve a common purpose with clear goals that are based on the state curricular standards and frequent review of student data.
  • seeks and implements a variety of strategies to continually improve student achievement.
  • demonstrates a personal commitment to the academic success and well-being of all students.
  • monitors each student's academic and social progress throughout each school year.
