DEFINITION:

The ParentPortal allows parents secure access to view their child's information via the web using an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer.  This project is in its second year and has improved home-to-school communications.

BACKGROUND:

The ParentPortal is TIS supported for use at school sites. This service is available to all middle and high schools and allows parents to view some of their child's information via the Internet. In short:

• It allows parents to view their student’s
• Attendance
• Semester grades
• Transcripts
• Course schedules
  
  
• Provides quick links to teacher web pages
• Information updated near hourly provides near real-time access to student data
• Security: Requires use of a school-generated Student ID Number and unique Personal Identification Number (PIN). Furthermore, the information that is posted to this site is merely a copy of the real information file insuring that no one can alter actual permanent records through this application.
• Parents have single logon for all children in a family
• Link from teacher name on student schedules to teacher web page and/or email address.
