Child
and family focused, Arroyo Vista K-8 School is serenely located
in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita. This campus has served
the community since 1992. Quality instruction coupled with community
collaboration make Arroyo Vista an outstanding learning environment.
With a focus on literacy and mathematics, Arroyo Vista offers
a rigorous standards based instructional program. Reduced class
sizes in grades 1-3 allow students to master essential reading
skills. Intervention programs provide additional reading and
math support for students.
At Arroyo Vista
students consistently achieve high test scores in the areas of
reading, language arts, and mathematics. A strong partnership
between home and school ensures that each child’s intellectual, social, and educational
needs are met. Teachers utilize a variety of teaching styles
and strategies, on-going staff development, weekly teacher collaboration
and parent involvement to enhance student achievement. Both the
PTA and School Site Council support the day to day instructional
needs, school wide programs and events and are key decision makers
at the school.
The health
and well being of each child is a priority at Arroyo Vista. Grade
levels have adopted Physical Education activities based on CA
State Standards to promote healthy habits and become “Fit for Life.” In addition to outdoor
PE activities, middle schools students have access to the Arroyo
Vista Fitness Center which features state of the art cardio and
strength equipment.
Each elementary
classroom is equipped with three or more student computers with
internet access. Three computer labs, all using current technology,
allow K-8 students to access the World Wide Web and to utilize
such programs as Word, PowerPoint, and Ultra Key to enrich learning
opportunities. Middle School students also benefit from a mobile
computer lab featuring 32 laptop computers with internet and
Office capabilities. Teachers use technology to facilitate communication
with parents and their colleagues in a timely manner to improve
student learning. A Listserv email communication system is used
to provide information to the entire parent community.
Arroyo
Vista recognizes that the key to successful learning is maintaining
a strong partnership between home and school. Administrators,
teachers and parents work in collaboration to promote lifelong
learning and success for each child.
