Concordia
Elementary School is located on the bluffs
overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the seaside
community of San Clemente. Founded in
1955, Concordia is rich in history, tradition,
and culture. A recent survey determined
that nearly ten percent of Concordia’s
parents attended the school as students
themselves. Former Concordia students
are prominent in San Clemente community
affairs and maintain a vested interest
in Concordia Elementary School. An active
Parent Teacher Association supports and
enhances the instructional program.
A
National Blue
Ribbon and California
Distinguished School, Concordia
focuses on high academic achievement for
all students. The staff recognizes that
there are a variety of intelligences and
that each student excels in one or more.
A balanced language arts program that
utilizes core literature and the writing
process in conjunction with phonemic instruction
is integrated into all subject areas.
Throughout the instructional day, teachers
align learning objectives and high student
expectations with California State Performance
Standards.
At
Concordia Elementary School, a unique
partnership has been established with
the Ocean Institute in Dana Point Harbor.
With the financial support of the PTA,
grants, and community donations, grade
level appropriate science field study
experiences are provided for students
in grades 3-5. These outdoor and laboratory
science experiences culminate in the fifth
grade with the Catalina Island Ecology
Safari, an overnight exploration of Catalina
Island.
Concordia
Elementary School is a community of positive,
dedicated individuals who are committed
to providing a quality educational program
while promoting the welfare of children.
The collaborative efforts of community
stakeholders ensure the success of each
student.
