Fostering a Lifelong Love of Learning
A California Distinguished School

Grades: Kindergarten through 5

Castille Elementary School is committed to creating a safe, child centered environment that fosters a lifelong love of learning and positive self esteem. Today students acquire the knowledge and values they will need to become independent and contributing citizens of tomorrow.

Recognizing that communication is an important life skill, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills are developed and accented in all instructional areas. The mastery of these four basic types of communication profoundly impacts student success and quality of life. Our focus on communication exposes all children to a core curriculum which is designed to meet individual needs.

To help each student reach his or her potential, our educational program enables acceleration, enrichment, creativity and higher level thinking, and draws upon student interests. Students make connections to prior knowledge, interact with their learning environment, elaborate upon life experiences, and learn concepts and skills through discovery. This can be accomplished thanks to teachers and support staff who are highly motivated, enthusiastic, innovative, technologically adept and professional.

Castille is dedicated to providing an educational program which meets the needs of all students, including those who are highly gifted. Students identified as accelerated learners within a grade level are provided with maximum opportunities for interaction. Teachers are specially trained in the strategies of depth, complexity, novelty and acceleration, which are used to differentiate the curriculum for these students.

Character building is an integral part of our positive school climate. Our school staff, in partnership with parents, strives to encourage students to be productive citizens. Each month, our school features a different attribute as a building block in the foundation of teaching our children Fostering a Lifelong Love of Learning how to become good citizens. Activities and discussions are planned around identified attributes such as giving, sharing, helping, caring, unselfishness and generosity.

Our students are recognized on a monthly basis through the Student of the Month program. Ongoing regular awards, incentives and recognition are given to children in the classroom for academic excellence, citizenship, attendance and social skills.

Castille parents are partners in their child’s education and are enthusiastic about being involved in the PTA and serving as classroom or school volunteers. Parent involvement is a very important part of the success of children and programs.

At Castille Elementary, learning is personal, meaningful and motivating for both children and adults.
