Industrial Technology Teacher

                    Mr. Robert Damon

Welcome to Industrial Tech.

Students of Industrial Technology Education Explorations become familiar with historical, current, and potential developments in industry and technology, as well as the effects of such developments on society and the environment, i.e. The Amazon Rainforest.

As a result of participation in Industrial and Technology Education Explorations, the students entering high school will be helped in making informed career/occupational/educational decisions based on the knowledge and skills they have acquired.

My teaching philosophy is as follows; Firm and fair. I feel students need to know what you expect of them. These expectations should be consistent and fair, and encouraged with patience and understanding. This enables the teaching process to become grounds for mutual respect, shared ideas and open communications.

I offer my students a classroom environment where different levels of learning can be accomplished simultaneously. I believe students respond best to a structured, well organized, classroom where everyone is acknowledged as having the ability to learn and become the best they can be.

We live in a changing world and to remain competitive, we need to constantly be open to new and better ways of doing things.  However, without a firm basis, a foundation upon which to build our future knowledge base, new concepts presented to us in advanced technology can be misunderstood or wasted. Therefore a base of textbook knowledge with frequent testing to verify learning, and practical, proper and safe use of tools is stressed.

It is my belief that every student that comes through my shop doors should leave with, not only a better understanding, of Industrial Technology, but also a firmer grip on their life skills.  These life skills include, increased confidence within themselves, and their ability as people to accomplish goals they set out to do.  These goals can make a positive difference in their world and ours.  Whether it is saving the rainforests and all of mankind or attaining a job and supporting a family.  These are equally important and I call them Life Skills.

Some of the projects the students will be making, to learn a variety of skills, are shown below.
