BULLYING DEFINITION:
Bullying is ongoing unwelcome, pervasive, severe, verbal, written or physical conduct directed at a student or staff member by a student or staff member that has the effect of any or all of the following:
 
  • Physically, emotionally, or mentally harming a student or staff member.
  • Damaging, extorting, or taking a student or a staff member's personal property.
  • Placing a student or staff member in reasonable fear of physical, emotional, or mental harm.
  • Placing a student, or staff member in reasonable fear of damage to, or loss of personal property.
  • Creating an intimidating and/or hostile environment that substantially interferes with a student's educational opportunities or the ability of a staff member to perform his or her duties
 
BULLYING EXAMPLES:
  •  Hitting, tripping, shoving, pinching, and excessive tickling
  • Threats, name-calling, racial slurs, and insults
  • Demanding money, property, or some service to be performed
  • Stabbing, choking and burning
  • Humiliating target(s) in front of friends
  • Manipulating friends and relationships
  • Sending hurtful or threatening email or notes
  • Blackmailing or terrorizing
  • Utilizing a website or social media to taunt, embarrass or degrade a target
