Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
ELOP

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) grant provides funding for eligible TK–6th grade students to receive before and after school care at no cost to families. ELOP creates a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for students, especially those from working families.

In addition to the school year program, ELOP also includes 30 non-instructional days and engaging summer school opportunities.

Some of the enrichment activities offered through ELOP include:

  • Homework assistance provided by CUSD teachers

  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons led by CUSD counselors

  • Dance, Drama, Sports, Chess, Origami

  • Our newest addition: the Ukulele Club!

“Expanded learning” refers to before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of students through hands-on, engaging experiences.

It is the intent of the California Legislature that expanded learning programs be student-centered, results-driven, include community partnerships, and complement, but not replicate learning activities that take place during the regular school day and year.
