Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)
California’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs (ELOP) are a vital part of a child’s educational journey. These programs provide students with year-round, hands-on learning experiences that support academic growth, social-emotional development, and physical well-being—preparing them for success in college, career, and life.
What is Expanded Learning?
“Expanded learning” includes before school, after school, summer, and intersession programs. These opportunities are designed to meet the unique needs and interests of students in engaging, supportive environments.

No-Cost Programs for Eligible Students
Students who qualify for ELOP may participate in enriching programs at the YMCA or Boys & Girls Clubs at no cost. This includes 180 school days and 30 additional non-school days each year.
