PROGRAM STRUCTURES
GATE identified Elementary students will:
- Be strategically cluster grouped with other students who are identified and/or students who are high achieving in the regular classroom setting
- Work toward meeting or exceeding the California grade-level standards in all curriculum areas
GATE Middle School students will:
- Be placed in courses with accelerated language arts and social science content along with other GATE-identified students.
- Be placed in accelerated mathematics classes based on District math placement criteria
- Work toward meeting or exceeding the California grade-level standards in all curriculum areas
High School students who are identified will:
- May be appropriately placed in Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes
- Work toward meeting or exceeding the California grade-level standards in all content areas
- Please note that GATE identification does not automatically place a student in Honors, AP, or IB at the High School level
Teachers who instruct students who are identified at all grade levels will:
- Utilize a variety of student assessment and data to carefully plan and monitor instruction
- Implement a variety of instructional models to provide appropriate differentiation to meet the needs of learners who are gifted
- Be encouraged to attend professional development workshops provided by CUSD Educational Services personnel or other educational institutions
